Missing UMass Dartmouth student athlete found dead
Missing UMass Dartmouth student Flordan Bazile died by an “apparent suicide,” according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office. Police found Bazile on the afternoon of Tuesday, Jan. 16.
UMass Dartmouth Chancellor Mark Fuller sent a letter to students notifying them of Bazile’s passing and remarking on his achievements as a student athlete.
Bazile ran for the Track and Field team and was named Little East Conference Track Athlete and Track Rookie Athlete of the Week for his recent performances.
“His coaches and teammates described Flo as hard-working, energetic, a champion, and a great friend,” the letter read.
The university will share more information in the coming days about plans to honor Bazile’s life.
UMass Dartmouth Police reported Bazile missing and requested information on his whereabouts on Tuesday. The post said Bazile was last seen on campus at Pine Dale Hall at approximately 2 a.m. on Jan. 15.
