With the regular season officially in the books, Dartmouth’s winter high school sports teams are headed to the playoffs. In the newly released tournament brackets from the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association, all three of Dartmouth’s team sports earned spots in their respective divisions. 

The girls basketball team will continue its dominant, history-making season as the 4 seed in the competitive Division 2 tournament. Dartmouth finished with a 17-3 record after going undefeated for over a month to start off the season. 

The Indians are coming off two quick losses from the Spartan Classic tournament in Lynn, so the team will have to gather some momentum back for its first game, against either Shepherd Hill Regional High School or Somerset Berkley Regional High School. The date for the first game is not yet set.

The boys basketball team, led by head coach Nick Simonetti, finished with a dead-even 10-10 record. After starting the season strong, the Indians hit an unfortunate losing streak in January and February that dropped their ranking a bit. 

Still, the team seeded well in the MIAA bracket at 17 of 41. Dartmouth will start off with a bye in the first round, then will play seed 16, Shepherd Hill Regional High School, on March 1. 

Lastly, after a confident 12-8 regular season, Dartmouth boys hockey will head into the Division 2 tournament as seed 28 of 33. They’ll need to immediately prove themselves against one of the top teams in the division, Newburyport High School, on Feb. 28. 

The postseasons for Dartmouth’s indoor track teams are structured differently. Both teams earned second place in the conference and sent a number of athletes to the divisional state championship. 

One Dartmouth athlete, Tyler Medeiros, won his event and beat his own school record for the 1000 meter run. Medeiros continued on to the interdivisional “Meet of Champions” on Feb. 24, where he earned fourth place and secured a spot in the New England championship on March 2.
