The Westport Art Group awarded two Dartmouth High School students with $1,500 scholarships this month.

The recipients, Fiona Jason and Samantha Brunette, both intend to pursue higher degrees in visual art.

Jason will attend Massachusetts College of Art and Brunette will attend University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

According to the organization, they were chosen because they offered compelling examples of artistic expression across a variety of techniques and materials.

In addition to the scholarship, Jason and Brunette were invited to display their art in the Westport Art Group gallery and receive a free membership to the group.

For more than 50 years, the Westport Art Group has awarded scholarships to high school seniors from the region who are eligible for the scholarships, according to the organization.
