Arthur “Archie” Correia, 91
Arthur “Archie” Correia, 91, of North Dartmouth, died peacefully on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of Barbara (Enos) Correia for over 60 years. Born in New Bedford, he was a son of the late Serafim F. Correia and Mariana (Sousa) Correia.
A talented barber and hair stylist, Archie owned and operated House of Arthur on North Front Street in New Bedford for many years until his retirement. He greatly enjoyed over 59 years of serving his clientele.
He was a Communicant of St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth, where he served as an usher for many years. He was a past president of the St. Vincent De Paul Society of St. Mary’s, South Dartmouth, past president of the Serra Club, and a founding member and past president of the Prince Henry Society, New Bedford.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS Shenandoah.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving son, Scott A. Correia and his wife Darlene of North Dartmouth. Cherished grandfather of Nathan S. Correia and Sean A. Correia of North Dartmouth. He was the brother of the late Joseph S. Correia, Abel Correia, Hilda Jasinski, Mary Cordeiro, Sarafina Magnant, and Lillian Spooner, He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 795 Dartmouth Street, South Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
