A stop motion silent film series set to a live soundtrack is returning to the North Branch Library.
On Saturday, Nov. 23 the North Branch Library is hosting a silent film series called “No Longer Silent.”
This film series presents historical stop motion animation films from the silent movie era set to live performances of contemporary composed soundtracks.
Jeffrey Angeley and Steven Brum will be the featured performers at the showing.
Angeley is a full-time music instructor and songwriter who has run a monthly traditional music series for the past seven years.
Brum is a performer and composer. He graduated from UMass Dartmouth and is now a teacher at Symphony Music Shop.
Angeley and Brum will be performing as the backdrop to the 1929 feature length silent film “Man with a Movie Camera” by Dziga Vertov.
“Man with a Movie Camera” is both a documentary and a cinematic art piece that depicts ordinary life in early 20th century Russian and Ukrainian cities and explores both the modernity of cities and moden art.
The program is being supported in part by a grant from the Dartmouth Cultural Council.
The event starts at 2 p.m. at the North Branch Library, located at 211 Cross Road.
