Local activists will be rallied together in Dartmouth on Saturday, April 5 as a part of a nationwide mass mobilization against the recent actions of the Trump Administration.

Since taking office, Trump has imposed tariffs on American allies like Canada and Mexico as well as antagonizers like China, fueling economic uncertainty. Through dozens of executive orders the president has rolled back environmental protections, made cuts to social programs like Medicaid and Social Security and begun dismantling the Department of Education — while working to fulfill a campaign promise of mass deportation for undocumented immigrants.

Many of the Trump administration’s cuts and rollbacks have been facilitated by the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk. In the name of efficiency, Musk has fired hundreds of thousands of federal employees including National Park staff, FEMA workers, Department of Defense personnel and those working in U.S. foreign aid, among many others.

Dartmouth is just one of the over a thousand “Hands Off” rallies taking place Saturday for the National Day of Action. Postings promoting the event state, “Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them. We are fighting back!”

Dartmouth participants will be located at the Dartmouth Mall on State Road from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This mass mobilization day is our message to the world that we do not consent to the destruction of our government and our economy for the benefit of Trump and his billionaire allies. Alongside Americans across the country, we are marching, rallying, and protesting to demand a stop [to] the chaos and build an opposition movement against the looting of our country,” the post stated.

Hands Off organizers state they are committed to non-violent protesting and participants are encouraged to seek de-escalation if a confrontation occurs.
