Audrey F. (Walecka) Steele, 92, formerly of New Bedford, went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2019 at The Cottages of Dartmouth.

She was the loving wife of the late Alan K. Steele.

Born in Acushnet, a daughter of the late Charles and Selina (Jones) Walecka she lived most of her life in New Bedford. She was a member of the Smith Mills Congregational Church.

Mrs. Steele was a collector for the Fall River Philanthropic Society for 30 years before her retirement. She worked with the VFW Post 6643 and was active with the Dartmouth Council on Aging. Audrey was active at her church, the Royal Traveler’s, and the Dartmouth Thursday Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Costa and her husband Michael of Marietta, Georgia and Susan Morrison and her husband Robert of Aransas Pass, Texas; three grandchildren, Christine Gross and her husband Jeffrey of Massachusetts, Heather Ames of Florida, and Rebekah Gizzi and her wife Karin of Massachusetts; six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Audrey was predeceased by three siblings.

Her memorial service will be held on April 6 at 10 a.m. at the Smith Mills Christian Congregational Church, 11 Anderson Way, Dartmouth.
