Storm updates: parking ban, warming shelter, power outages and more
Even as the sun shines and the snow has stopped falling, Dartmouth is still facing the effects of the record-breaking blizzard that dropped 33-inches of snow in Dartmouth.
More than 1,800 Eversource customers were still without power as of this morning, with the majority of the outages caused be tree limbs. Expected time of restoration varies between location and is still unknown in many areas as it has been difficult for crew members to get to the outage locations due to the snow.
Because of these outages, the town has opened a warming shelter at the Council on Aging at 628 Dartmouth Street. The shelter will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today.
Those who require transportation and aren't able to drive to the shelter can call 508-999-4717 to arrange for pickup.
The parking ban will now remain in effect "indefinitely," and town officials will make an announcement when it's been lifted.
Solid waste and recycling have now been canceled for the rest of the week and will resume on Monday, March 2.
As of 12 p.m. today, the travel ban imposed by Gov. Maura Healey has been lifted, though residents are still advised to use caution and stay home if possible so that crews can continue their cleanup efforts.
All Dartmouth Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
The Town will continue providing updates as conditions evolve through their Facebook page and on their website, dartmouthma.gov.
