Cultural Center shows art by members and guests
Every year, the Cultural Center invites both members and residents to submit art for the sixth annual Member-Guest Exhibition.
“I think it’s the right time of year,” said Jill, the former gallery director, “A lot of people are looking for Christmas gifts. In fact, I purchased one myself … for me to give.”
This is the last show that Law has directed. She retired to pursue her Masters of Fine Arts.
“It was one of the hardest things to do, was say I need to go,” said Law, “But it’s completely necessary.”
She has two pieces in the show, a pastel and an acrylic painting.
Members were able to show two pieces for free, and non-members could show one for $35.
“It’s one of those things that’s intended to increase membership,” said Law.
There are a variety of mediums on show; photography, acrylic, oil, fabric and more.
“It’s a good number of paintings,” said Law, “I was surprised at the amount of paintings that came in … you can see it’s really, there’s some lovely things.”
“I love the space, and I love the fellow members so it’s always nice to participate,” said Kim Barry, a member who has pieces on show.
