Dartmouth High’s home football opener rescheduled

Sep 3, 2019

Dartmouth High School’s first football game on its new turf field will not be under the Friday night lights.

According to the football team’s online schedule, the team’s first home game against Old Rochester Regional High School will now be played at 4 p.m. on September 13. The game was originally set for later that evening.

Last week, in response to the threat of Eastern equine encephalitis, Dartmouth Public Schools announced a 5:30 curfew for all outdoor activities. At the time it was announced, the curfew did not affect varsity sports schedules.

According to the schedule, it the home game is the only game which has been changed so far.

The Indians are set to take on Falmouth in an away game at 6 p.m. on September 6 to open the season. All other Friday night games are still set for 7 p.m.

The September 13 home opener is set to be held on the newly renovated Memorial Stadium. A back-to-school bash was originally planned for before the game. It is unclear how the time change will affect that portion of the program.
