Dartmouth Police, S.W.A.T. team enter Capri Motel to arrest Fall River man
Dartmouth Police wound up in a standoff at the Capri Motel while trying to arrest Fall River man Willie Vinnie on an outstanding probation warrant, according to a release from the department. On Saturday, Sept. 30, around 9:30 p.m., Vinnie barricaded himself inside his room and had to be removed by S.W.A.T. team members from the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council.
The officers tried to negotiation with Vinnie to exit the room, according to the release, but forcibly entered after negotiations were fruitless.
Vinnie was not armed. During the course his arrest, Vinnie resisted and was injured during the S.W.A.T. team’s entrance, according to Det. Kyle Costa. He was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where he remains under evaluation. The incident lasted about three and a half hours, authorities said, and Vinnie was charged with resisting arrest in addition to his outstanding warrant.
