Double fatality on State Road

There was a double fatality around the Dartmouth and Westport town line on State Road around 7:35 p.m. on Friday, July 10.
Both police departments received muliple 911 calls regarding the crash. Dartmouth Police and Fire District 3 responded to the scene.
A Toyota Sedan was located with "catastophic" damage. Tristan Bedient, 34 of Acushnet was driving the sedan with Kate Aldrich, 51 of New Bedford. Bedient and Aldrich were brought to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
The two passengers in the other car sustained non-life threatening injuries.
State Road from Route 177 to Highland Avenue will be closed for the time being.
No other information has been released by the Bristol County District Attorney at this time.
The investigation is ongoing, and is being conducted by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County Attorney's Office.
