Early voting for the Massachusetts primary begins next week in Dartmouth.

Voters can begin casting their ballots on Saturday, Aug. 27 at Town Hall, Room 103 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.— the last day residents can register to vote in the primary — and will run through Sept. 2.

When voting, because this is a primary election, residents will be required to select which party they will cast their ballots for.

The ballot will feature a number of races, including representing the 9th Bristol District in the Massachusetts State House, the Second Bristol and Plymouth in the State Senate, Bristol County district attorney, and Bristol County Sheriff.

Running for the State House is Cameron Costa against incumbent Chris Markey. No Republican is running in this year’s race.

State Sen. Montigny (D-New Bedford) faces no challenge in either the primary race or the upcoming general election.

Running for district attorney is former prosecutor Shannon McMahon against incumbent Thomas Quinn III. No Republican candidate is running in this election.

The Democratic race for sheriff will feature three candidates: Attleboro Mayor Paul Heroux, former prosecutor Nick Bernier, and former Somerset Police Chief George McNeil.

Incumbent Sheriff Thomas Hodgson is running unopposed in the Republican race.

Also on the ballot will be the statewide races for governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, state auditor, attorney general, and the U.S. House of Representatives.

Polls will also be open the day of the primary, Sept. 6, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
