Fairhaven man arrested for breaking and entering in Dartmouth
Andre Kerman, 51 of Fairhaven, was arrested and charged with breaking into and stealing from Pearl Vision Center at 83B Faunce Corner Road.
The alarm at Pearl Vision Center was set off at 4:09 a.m. on Saturday, May 9. The front door and multiple display cases were broken and about $51,000 of merchandise was stolen.
Officers spotted Kerman riding a bicycle in the vicinity, who allegedly refused to stop and fled the scene, according to the Dartmouth Police Report. He was followed by Officer Peter Canuel, who saw sunglasses fall out of Kerman’s backpack. When he was caught, officers found many sunglasses from Pearl Vision with price tags still attached.
Officers found a sledgehammer in a nearby bush. Kerman admitted to using the sledgehammer to break into the store and display cases, according to the Dartmouth Police Department.
Kerman was charged with breaking and entering nighttime for felony, larceny over $1,200, larceny from building, two counts of vandalizing property and possessing a burglarious instrument.
This is not the first time the Pearl Vision was broken into in a similar manner, and the previous suspect’s description matched Kerman. If anyone has information regarding this or prior incidents, contact Detective Kyle Berube at 508-910-1760.
