Fifteen people have died from the coronavirus outbreak at the Brandon Woods nursing home in Bliss Corner as of May 5, according to parent company CEO Frank Romano.

Romano said that there has only been one new Covid-19 case in the past week, and that most of those in the virus quarantine unit have recovered and left, with 24 patients remaining.

Twelve staff members have now recovered from the virus, and only four remain out sick, he added.

Meanwhile, the number of cases in town has hit 202 as of May 4, according to a press release from the Board of Health. In the release, the board thanked Dartmouth residents for helping control the transmission of the virus through social distancing and asked that they continue to do so.

“Communities throughout the area have become creative with their ways to celebrate life’s important moments and we appreciate the steps that residents of Dartmouth have taken to reduce the spread of Covid-19,” the board stated in the release. “Thank you for remaining committed to controlling the transmission of this virus and for understanding the need for these unprecedented changes in our daily lives.”

As of May 5, there are 70,271 confirmed cases of the virus in Massachusetts, with 4,235 in Bristol County and 4,212 deaths in the state.
