GALLERY: Daffodil Field at Parsons Reserve
There’s no greater sign that spring has arrived than at Parsons Reserve. The highlight of the 32-acre nature preserve is found at its northern end where the forest clears to reveal a sprawling field of white and yellow daffodils.
Amid the thousands of perennials are residents hunched over the blossoms taking close up shots or holding their phones in stretched arms, posing for flower-filled selfies.
Currently maintained by the Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust, the field was allegedly planted in the 1940s by Raymond Pettey who intended to sell the daffodils during World War II. It has remained in place ever since.
To visit the field, park at Russells Mills Landing at 33 Horseneck Road. The entrance to Parsons Reserve is across the street. A $2 donation is recommended to help the Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust with maintenance.
