Christmas is for canines and cats too. On Dec. 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Humane Society and Shelter — SouthCoast will host “Santa Paws is Coming to Town,” a fun-filled photo event for kids, pets and adults. 

But before then, the shelter is asking local businesses and individuals to create and donate gift baskets so they can raffle them off that day. The deadline to drop them off at the shelter is Dec. 8. 

All proceeds from the event will go to the Shelter and the Shelter animals. 

The shelter reminds attendees to keep their pets on a leash at the event or bringing them in a carrier.
