Jaw dropping: students tour filming sites at Martha's Vineyard
Members of the Film Production Club at Dartmouth High School visited Martha’s Vineyard to see where the classic movie “Jaws” was filmed.
The club started planning a club trip last year, and decided that since “Jaws” came out 50 years ago this was the perfect time to visit Martha’s Vineyard, where some of the scenes were filmed.
The trip was organized by the club officers, and was fully funded by a grant from MassHire of Greater New Bedford.
The day started off with a viewing of the remastered film at the Edgartown Cinemas followed by a lunch and a walking tour of the filming sites. One of the club leaders, Noah Clark, organized the walking tour.
“Creating the walking tour was a little scary because you don't necessarily know how you're gonna say where everything was filmed,” said Clark, “But also great as it gave deeper insight to what scenes were filmed and if people want to go to the Vineyard again they will recognize the sites we went to.”
Clark had to research the film and its filming locations to organize the walking tour.
“It was an absolute dream to go and watch one of my personal favorite films at the place it was filmed,” he said.
