Join in on the 35th year of getting hooked on fishing – not drugs
Event Date:
The Knights of Columbus in Dartmouth will host the 35th annual “Get Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs” kids’ fishing tournament on Saturday, June 28, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Mello’s Pond, located one mile west of UMass Dartmouth on Old Westport Road. A rain date is scheduled for Saturday, July 12.
Open to children ages 5 to 16, the event encourages healthy, outdoor fun in a family-friendly environment. Bait will be provided and participants are asked to bring a bucket. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The long-running tournament is held in loving memory of Lt. Ken Cotta and Bob Mello and continues to emphasize the message of choosing positive activities over harmful influences.
To help organizers plan and ensure enough supplies, families are asked to pre-register by June 21, with the approximate number of children attending. Organizers encourage families to arrive early, drive slowly down the dirt lane to the end and enjoy a morning of community, memories and fishing fun.
