Kenneth Machado, 74
Kenneth Machado, 74, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 9, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the best friend and beloved husband of 29 years of Judith E. Ball.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Frank and Doris (Lasnier) Machado, he was a lifelong area resident. and spent many years in Dartmouth. He was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his children, grandson and favorite niece, Deb. He enjoyed his time at the Black Jack Table and never missed Fox News with Bill O’Reilly. One of his great pleasures in life was travelling the globe with his many “peeps.”
Ken graduated from New Bedford High School in 1959 and the New Bedford Institute of Technology in 1963. Kenneth was the founder of Machado & Silva Inc. He provided more than 45 years of accounting and tax services, originally from his home as a Public Accountant, and then as a CPA. In 2008, the business became Machado & Silva. He served many clients over the years, including in the Dartmouth area, many of whom are still with the firm today. His wisdom, generosity, easy going nature, and stories of his many travel adventures will be missed. Ken also worked at Prescott, Bullard & MacLeod and he was the business manager and treasurer for GNBRVTHS for 13 years.
Mr. Machado was a member of the Mt. Carmel Seniors, the Country Club of New Bedford and Allendale Country Club. He was also a commissioner for the New Bedford Airport.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Kenneth Machado of FL; a daughter, Kimberly Baldys (Steve) of AZ; a grandson, K. Tyler Machado of Boston and his mother Cathy Santos; and former spouse Rosie Machado of New Bedford; one niece and several nephews. He was the brother of the late Jan Alfonso.
His visitation will be Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 9-11 a.m. in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a celebration of his life at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
