Farmers market season comes to a close
The Dartmouth Farmer’s Market held their last market of this year on Friday, Oct. 24.
The market had a successful summer, with up to 16 vendors selling crocheted and sewn goods, soaps, glass, microgreens and mushrooms.
Farmer’s market manager Brenda Lasseur from New Bedford has been selling at the markets for 13 years. She makes homemade soaps, lotions, chapsticks and more.
“It’s a great venue, the people do come,” she said.
Donna Cordeiro sells her crochet goods at the market. She made pumpkin hats for halloween, and sells chickens, Dunkin’ cozies and more.
“The public has been supportive. We thank everyone for hanging in with us,” Cordeiro said.
Candance Sherman attended the final day of the market with her grandson Morris, and her daughter Alison Horrigan. They enjoyed the live music by Gene Paul Beaudoin. Morris was dressed as a pumpkin, and received a free crochet pumpkin hat from Cordeiro to get a photo.
Lee Murray has been selling at the market for years, and sells sewn goods. She feels that the reason the market becomes less busy toward the end is that kids come to enjoy the market when it begins in the summer, and it slows down when kids return to school.
“This season was much better than last season,” said Murray, “We’re hoping to make it stronger even [next year.]”
