Lloyd Center to help with STEM week activites

The Healey Driscoll Administration awarded seven nonprofit organizations $465,00 for hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and career exploration. 

One of the recipients was the Wade Institute for Science Education at Manomet Conservation Sciences, who is partnering with the Lloyd Center. 

The Wade Institute, the Lloyd Center and the Hitchcock Center for the Environment will be hosting “H2Whoa! Hydroengineers at Work.” 

Kids in grades fifth through eight will investigate water pollution, drought and look into nature-inspired engineering to create ways to capture and filter water. 

Educators will receive professional development, the curriculum and classroom materials. The goal is to reach 100 educators and 5,000 middle school students. 

STEM week is Oct. 19 through Oct. 21.
