The Greater New Bedford Marine Corps League is celebrating the 240th birthday of the United States Marine Corps.

The festivities will happen on Nov. 5 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Poirier Post V.F.W., which is located at 281 Appleton St. in New Bedford.

Food, tea and coffee will be provided, and there will also be a cash bar. A traditional cake cutting ceremony and a Commandant’s message are also on the schedule.

The party will be a casual dress affair and is limited to active Marines, former Marines, and Fleet Marine Fleet Corpsmen only.
