Pink cup-mania is now underway in Dartmouth.

A little more than half a year after announcing its intentions to expand into town, Marylou’s Coffee officially opened for business on Monday with its new store located at the Mobil station on Faunce Corner Road between Cross Road and I-195.

“The opening of our North Dartmouth location has been a long time coming and we are thrilled to finally be part of the community,” company founder Marylou Sandry said in a statement. “We look forward to serving our new friends and neighbors [on] the South Coast.”

The coffee chain, which first opened in Hanover in 1986, sells a variety of pastries and breakfast items in addition to coffee and specialty drinks in their signature pink cups — all items which proved to be very popular on opening day.

By 1 p.m., general manager Brittany Coy noted that the coffee shop had already made $2,000 in profits from “a steady stream of customers” stopping inside while getting lottery tickets or via the drive-thru.

“I can’t believe it,” she said.

Coy credited her staff of veteran employees with being able to get through the opening. 

The only hitch leading up to the opening, she said, was a pipe burst due to the extreme cold temperatures over the weekend. Thankfully, she said things were back to working order just in time.

“I couldn’t be happier,” she said. “We are ready to take on Dartmouth, that’s for sure.”

Marylou’s is located at 155 Faunce Corner Road and is open daily from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
