Mirasol’s Café sold, new owners looking to grow business
Mirasol’s Café will be changing hands as owner Richard Romero has announced he is selling the business to an investment group in a newly formed partnership.
The new group, named Sunflower Partners LLC, is spearheaded by Luis Raposo of Shorepoint Capital Partners LLC, an SEC-registered investment advisor based in Norwood, MA.
“This investment will help us grow the brand and open up different stores in different locations, and different possibilities for the future,” said Romero.
Romero was quick to add that the store would not be closing or changing much at all. “We’re just going to keep things the same but add some technology on our end and look for more locations,” he said.
According to Romero’s announcement, he will stay on to grow the brand, develop marketing initiatives, focus on product development and seek future sites to develop into cafes.
Romero and his family have run and operated Mirasol’s Café at the same location since 2006.
New partner Raposo is the co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of Shorepoint and has extensive experience in investing and advising private companies.
He has his MBA from Suffolk University and his Bachelors from UMass Dartmouth. He emigrated from the Azores and grew up in Fall River.
Taking over the day-to-day operations will be Chris Georgiadis, who is moving to the area from New Hampshire with his wife and young family.
Having grown up in his family’s restaurant and most recently having owned his own café, he brings an extensive knowledge in food related business.
He and his young family are excited to become a part of the Mirasol’s family as well as the Dartmouth community and also to carry on the legacy that Richard and his family have created at Mirasol’s Café.
Mirasol’s Café, located at 439 State Road in Dartmouth, is a Latin inspired café serving coffee, soups, sandwiches and freshly baked goods.
The Café is notably known for serving their signature drink, the CHiPPi. The CHiPPi is a unique highly caffeinated iced coffee that’s only served at this location.
Romero said he was excited to get started with the next steps. “It’s very exciting news,” he said. “Time to turn the page, and get a few fresh eyes and ears into the place and push us forward.”
