A New Bedford man sustained serious injuries after a motorcycle crash on State Road Wednesday evening.

Justin Luiz, 36, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital after crashing his 2004 Suzuki motorcycle into three separate vehicles while traveling eastbound near Elizabeth Street.

According to police, a preliminary investigation shows that speed may have been a contributing factor in the collision.

No charges have yet been filed.
