Pamela Jean Ferreira, 62

Dec 28, 2020

Pamela Jean Ferreira, 62, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 26, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.

Born and raised in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Norman L. Ferreira and Rita (Santos) Ferreira. She moved to Dartmouth for a short time before returning to New Bedford where she resided for the past 22 years.

Pamela graduated from New Bedford High School. She then went on to graduate from “SMU”, now known as UMass Dartmouth, with a degree in business management. She worked in furniture sales and management for nearly her entire career. She greatly enjoyed her “work family” at Cardi’s Furniture, where she worked for the last 18 years.

Pamela’s greatest joy was her family. She loved babysitting her nieces and nephew when they were young, and then subsequently enjoying special days out together as they grew older. Pamela especially cherished Sunday night dinners and family vacations. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, serving for several years as a Sunday School teacher and coordinator. She then became a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Parish, where she has worshiped for the last 25 years.

Survivors include two sisters: Michelle A. Ferreira of Dartmouth, and Valerie J. Alves and her husband Thomas of Dartmouth, one brother: Corey M. Ferreira and his wife Tracie of Dartmouth, four nieces and a nephew: Lauren (Alves) Coutu and her husband Steven of New Bedford, Ashley Alves and her partner Timothy of Dartmouth, Mallory Alves, Taylor Alves, and Tyler Ferreira all of Dartmouth, and many cousins and friends.

Her funeral visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. at the Waring-Sullivan Funeral Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Road. Burial will be private in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
