Public Works proposes $7.29 million budget
The Board of Public Works proposed a $7.29 million budget for Spring Town Meeting this June.
This budget accounts for road construction, pump stations, water mains, aeration improvements and a new garbage truck.
The majority of the funds would go toward aeration system and water main requests. The Board will request $5.2 million for improvements to the water filtration aeration system, which helps filter and clean the water. They will also request $1.2 million to replace the existing water main near Hathaway Road.
These requests are partially due to an increasing need for sewer systems in town.
Public Works will be requesting $400,000 for road maintenance, which is a part of the $1 million they usually request annually. This year they will be asking for $1.25 million due to raising costs.
They will also request $90,000 for the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition North and South pump stations and $400,000 for a new garbage truck.
