Two ballot questions for the April election
Besides the contested Select Board race, there will be two questions on the ballot for the election on Tuesday, April 7.
If approved, the first question would expand the Board of Public Works from three to five members. Two of the members would be appointed for two years, two members would be appointed for three years and one would be appointed for one year. After each member’s term expires, they would all be appointed for a term of three years.
The Select Board, with advice from the Board of Public Works, proposed this amendment to help prevent issues with discussions and help form a quorum.
The second would be an amendment to charter section 6-5 of the rules and regulations, which states when new rules and regulations go into effect. Currently rules and regulations become effective after being posted with the Town Clerk. If this amendment gets passed, the rules and regulations would go into effect on either January 1 or July 1, depending on when the town organization files with the Town Clerk.
