A recycling drop-off event will be held at Dartmouth High on Saturday, July 23 between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This will be one of many drives on the South Coast held in partnership with state representatives Bill Straus (D-Mattapoisett) and Chris Markey (D-Dartmouth) along with Green Team Junk Removal, the Town of Dartmouth, Eversource,  Youth Opportunities Unlimited, Superior Waste, CMRK, Old Colony Habitat for Humanity, and HandUp Mattress Recycling & Upcycling.

“Recycling is an important aspect of the greener future that we are striving for,” Markey said. “This event is a tremendous opportunity for residents to clean out their homes, help the  environment, and even earn some money to lighten their electric bill.”

Residents are encouraged to turn in furniture, old electronics, tires, car batteries, bikes, textiles, mattresses and box springs.

Participants who bring bikes, textiles, housewares, books, musical instruments, car batteries, mattresses  and box springs will not be charged an entrance fee. There will be a $35 disposal fee for mattresses and  box springs.

Residents looking to dispose of electronics, tires, air  conditioners, and furniture will be charged a $15 entrance fee. There will be a $5 fee for each tire and window air conditioner turned in. TV and computer monitors will be accepted for a $20 fee.

Dartmouth High is located at 555 Bakerville Road.

According to Markey’s office, residents will receive a postcard with further information on the event. For more information, contact Green Team Junk Removal at (508) 361-0519.
