Some festive balloons. The 95° heat couldn’t beat the Fourth of July, with people heading out to beaches and grills across town to celebrate.
Dartmouth was covered with flags, both traditional and “250” flags, for the 250th anniversary since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Families and friends flocked to the beaches with hot dogs and hamburgers, squash and smores, flags and swimsuits to celebrate together.
At Jones Beach, a number of families celebrated the holiday and enjoyed the water.
Three young cousins Adriel, Javian and Jadien were excited to spend the holiday together.
“We never get to spend time like this much,” said Adriel.
Ice cream was another popular way to cope with the temperature. The Bucket and Apponegansett Park were packed, with many either in the water or enjoying a frozen treat.
