Turkey gobbles it up at State Road Burger King
Tom isn’t your average resident, though he shares similar traits. He goes to his favorite establishment, Burger King, for breakfast each morning when they open. He likes to lay in the shade and hang out at home. What makes him different? For one, he’s a large wild turkey.
Tom started showing up at the Burger King on State Road and begging for treats in early June. Some customers gave him fries, but the employees wanted him to be a bit healthier. They started bringing corn in for him to gobble, gobble up.
He quickly learned how the establishment works, and started using the drive-through to get his breakfast “like he’s ordering.”
After he grabs breakfast, he can be spotted nearby. Sometimes he takes a nap under the Prime Medical sign, or crosses the road to sun in the median.
Some people theorize he lives in the bushes behind the Burger King, and that’s why it became his favorite fast-food spot.
“He’s kind of becoming a pet,” said the manager, Nancy.
