After the resignation and departure of Building Commissioner Joe Braga, the town needs to interview candidates and choose his replacement. 

Select Board Members Shawn McDonald and Stanley Mickelson volunteered to serve on the interview committee. 

The board also voted to promote Ed Bailey, assistant building commissioner, to serve as interim commissioner. 

Before Dartmouh, Braga worked as the deputy building commissioner in Brookline and the local inspector in Lowell. In 2021, Braga took over for former building commissioner David Riquinha. 

Building commissioners ensure that construction complies with the town’s codes and regulations including building and design standards, parking requirements, and building material specifications.

The building commissioner also oversees inspections to ensure all buildings meet code.
