Upcoming May events at the Council on Aging

The Dartmouth Council on Aging has released a listing of upcoming May events.

Arts & Food

The Council on Aging will host a Cinco De Mayo taco bar, featuring taco lunch, beverages, and dessert on May 3, 12:30 p.m. The cost is $3 in advance.

The monthly Tuesday Matinee movie will be “Green Book” on May 14, 1:30 p.m. Sign-up is required. Free popcorn will be served.

John Root will host a performance of ‘Music of the Gas Light Era” during a soup and sandwich event on May 23, 12 p.m. The cost is $5 in advance.

Author Laurie O’Neil will discuss her book, “Graceful Women Warrior” on May 29, 9 a.m. Walk-ins are welcome.

The Poetry Circle meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m. Short form poetry writing will take place. No experience is required.

Health and Wellness

A “Throw a Punch at Parkinson’s” boxing exercise program meets on Tuesdays, 1-2 p.m. Call for more information.

The Council on Aging’s Keep Moving Walking Club hosts walks every Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. and Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. All levels are welcome, and routes vary. No sign-up is required. Contact the Senior Center for more information.

Fun and Games

Learn how to use iPhones at the senior center on May 6, 2:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome.

See a Paw Sox game with the Council on Aging on May 16. Transportation to and from the vent is provided, and will leave the senior center at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $15, and $7 of free ballpark credit will be provided.

Team Trivia is held every first and third Monday from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
