Buzzards Bay Coalition protects four new properties with conservation restrictions
Over 37 acres of land will be protected and placed under conservation restrictions with the Buzzards Bay Coalition, permanently protecting the private properties from any future development plans.
A conservation restriction allows a land owner to protect their land while still keeping ownership of it and is a voluntary land protection agreement on private property.
"These particular individuals have chosen to conserve their lots, so we appreciate that," said Select Board member Chris O'Neil at a Select Board meeting on Monday, Jan. 26.
These 37 acres are split across four different properties: a 4.94 acre lot and a 5.37 acre lot located on Barneys Joy Road, a 15.1 acre lot on Tucker Road, and a 12.18 acre lot on Little River Road.
At the Jan. 26 Select Board meeting, representatives from the Buzzards Bay Coalition explained the components of each lot, which include agiricultural use, wooded land, salt marshes and working farms.
