Dartmouth high school football heads to the playoffs
The Dartmouth High School football team ended their regular season strong on Saturday, Nov. 1, with a 31-0 win against New Bedford High School, giving them a 5-2 winning season. They will be continuing on to the playoffs, which coach Richard White describes as a “second season.”
According to both White and captain Michael Hauck, the biggest challenge was the two losses, which were against Barnstable High School and Bridgewater-Raynham High School.
“They’re bigger schools, they’re good football teams, and we had to bounce back from that,” said White.
They both also noted another challenge was multiple players being injured, causing other players to have to switch positions.
Currently the team is in the top 10, and hoping that the win against New Bedford will put them in the top eight.
To prepare for the coming playoffs, Hauck stated that they will be watching film of previous games and focusing on teamwork.
“We got to have good team morale, and we got to pick each other up when things get hard, and practice and we got to push each other’s limits,” he said.
“I’ve loved the sport since I was a kid,” said Hauck,.“I love high school football so much because it’s just a different atmosphere at Dartmouth, and I love all my friends who are on this team. So it’s more than a team to me, it’s like a group of brotherhood.”
