Dartmouth man charged for allegedly manufacturing ghost guns
Brendan Smith, 43 of Dartmouth, has been arrested and charged for allegedly manufacturing and owning ‘ghost guns,’ which are untraceable guns made with a 3D printer.
Police responded to a disturbance report on Sabrina Way on Saturday, March 28, where they found evidence that Smith may be making ghost guns.
The Community Impact Unit was assigned to the case and found that Smith doesn’t have a license to carry.
Smith has been charged with eight charges of owning assault weapons, shotguns and firearms without a licence and possessing the materials to and manufacturing ghost guns, according to Detective Kevin Costa.
When searching the apartment, the Community Impact Unit found two AR-15 style rifles with no serial numbers; one AR-15 style magazine capable of holding 30 rounds; one AR-15 style magazine capable of holding 10 rounds; multiple rounds of ammunition of various calibers; three 9mm magazines; miscellaneous firearms parts and accessories; one 3D printer, two USB drives suspected of containing programming software used to manufacture firearm parts and accessories; and one drill press.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Dartmouth Police Detective Matthew Correia at 508-910-1785.
