Free composting materials for Dartmouth residents

The Greater New Bedford Regional Management District is offering ways for Dartmouth residents to get free composting tools.
For both events residents must show proof that they are a resident of New Bedford or Dartmouth.
The first is on Saturday, April 11 from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Crapo Hill Landfill, which is located at 300 Samuel Barnet Boulevard, New Bedford. Anyone who purchases a $25 backyard compost bin, or anyone who has in the past, can receive a free 2-gallon plastic kitchen counter bin. Four residents will be selected to get a free 1.3 gallon stainless steel kitchen counter bin.
The second event is on Wednesday, April 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Buttonwood Community Center at 1 Oneida Street in New Bedford. The free supplies will be given to any residents who complete a free backyard composting workshop, which will go over assembly, best practices and how to compost at home. Those who attend will receive a free backyard compost bin and a 2-gallon plastic kitchen counter bin.
