Household hazardous waste drop-off day scheduled for May 2
On Saturday, May 2 the Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District will be hosting a household hazardous waste drop-off day for Dartmouth residents who can show proof of residency.
The drop-off period will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m at the Crapo Hill Landfill, located at 300 Samuel Barnet Boulevard, New Bedford.
Items that will be accepted include oil-based paints, paint thinner, pesticides, household cleaners and old gasoline. For a detailed list, visit gnbrrmdistrict.org/hazardous-waste/.
Items that won't be included include latex paint and items that can be accepted at transfer stations or recycling centers like antifreeze, TVs and fluorescent light bulbs. If latex paint can't be reused or donated, it should be dried out and thrown out in regular houeshold trash bins. The maximum amount of waste accepted per household is 25 gallons or 50 pounds.
As this event is for households only, businesses, schools and contractors won't be permitted to participate.
Pre-registration is required, and residents must sign up for a time slot by visiting gnbrrmdistrict.org or calling 508-979-1493.
Residents should arrive as close to their scheduled time as possible to help manage traffic, which only flows in one direction. Participants must enter Crapo Hill Landfill through the New Bedford Business Park
