Letter to the Editor: on State Representative
After attending the debate between State Representative for the Massachusetts 9th District democrat Ed Pacheco is not a moderate. He is a typical tax and spend part of the current democratic machine in Massachusetts. He advocates for increasing taxes on casinos and foreign corporations. It has been my long-held belief that politicians stay up late at night trying to come up with more ways to tax citizens. Do you think the casinos are going to make less money or will gamblers have less winnings. I vote for the latter. What will Ed Pacheco say to the families when these foreign companies get up and move.
Ed Pacheco also mentioned Medicare for all. If you are retired and you spent all your life contributing to this program from your paycheck you should be concerned. New government programs always cost more than projected and would be ripe for fraud. If you currently have Medicare, you would be subject to being told that the end of the waiting line is around the corner. If you have any friends in Canada, ask them how this has worked out for them.
Ed Pacheco also mentioned that he would be above Massachusetts politics and would vote for the people of the Massachusetts 9 th district in contrast to the democratic party priorities. I think he truly believes that. He should call State Representative Alan Silva of Fall Rivers 7 th Bristol to see what happens when you vote against the Democrats. They take away the committee you sit on as well as the generous compensation that goes with it. With the past financial issues that Ed Pacheco has had I would find it highly unlikely that he would turn down the generous compensation of sitting on a committee and not vote for what the democratic party tells him to.
The choice is clear. You can vote for a continuation tax and spend or you can vote for Chester Tam who would look at the tremendous revenue that the state receives and allocate more to the schools and to infrastructure.
