Look out for free burritos at the grand opening of Caliente Mexican Grill
Caliente Mexican Grill, a family-owned restaurant business with locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, is set to open the doors to its new Dartmouth location on State Road, taking over the former Papa Gino’s.
Owner Frank Rodenzo said the business plans to soft open in early September and then will plan for a grand opening day where free burritos will be handed out for two hours in order to give new customers a chance to try out the food.
Rodenzo said the opening of Dartmouth’s location has been delayed due to challenges with construction. Oftentimes, it will take two to three months to open a Caliente branch, but it has taken over six months for this property.
This is the business’ ninth location, with another recently opening up in Newport. Rodenzo said he was drawn to Dartmouth because “we love colleges” and have family nearby.
He said each of the Caliente locations do work with schools, largely colleges, offering discounts and sponsorships.
“I love dealing with the customers, with the students and local community,” he added.
At some locations, he said first responders have the option to open a tab that can be paid off monthly to allow easy access for lunches that need to be had in a rush.
“We're very excited to work with the students and community around the area,” he said.
