Lucille Margaret (Langlois) Barbero
Lucille Margaret (Langlois) Barbero died peacefully at her home in Dartmouth on July, 19, 2026, surrounded by family.
She was born in New Bedford to Romeo and Melina (Meunier) Langlois on Sept. 2, 1934. After graduating from St. Anthony High School, she married the love of her life, Joseph Barbero, Jr. in 1955 and they spent 66 wonderful years together, raising their family in Dartmouth until his passing in 2021.
For many years they wintered in Sarasota, FL. and enjoyed the many benefits of the warmth and friendships there. She was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed making special cakes, costumes, and hosting parties for family and friends. She was a true baby whisperer and never met a baby that she didn't want to hold. She enjoyed playing tennis, attending plays and concerts and spending quality time with her close-knit family. They enjoyed many road trips, clamboils, game nights and camping trips. Lu was an enthusiastic supporter of the New Bedford historic district, with a special interest in the Glass Museum.
She is survived by her four children, Nina Mach of Fairhaven, Peter Barbero of Fall River, Andrea Vigus and her husband Gareth of Dartmouth and Cara Barbero of Montpelier, VT.; eleven grandchildren, Brenden, Tyler, Rebecca, Maia, Kaeli, Benjamin, Willow, Maggie, Zoe, Jayden and Wyatt; and eight great-grandchildren Jaiden, Kristiana, Noah, Lanette, Noella, Ophelia, Juliet and Juniper. She is also survived by four nieces and nephews, Tom, Bobby, Gina and Leo. She was predeceased by a sister, Rita (Langlois) Monteiro of New Bedford and a nephew, Michael; as well as her aunt Blanche Meunier, with whom she shared a special relationship.
Lucille was a communicant of St. Julie’s Church in Dartmouth and was very involved in the Ladies Guild there for many years. Her positive attitude and fun sense of humor will be missed by all those who loved her.
Her visitation will be held Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00PM with a funeral service at 5:30PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02748. Relatives and friends are invited.
