Parks and Recreation fall youth one-day classes

The Parks and Recreation Department is offering two classes to help kids develop life and safety skills.
The first is a Home Alone Safety Class, which will cover topics such as self-first aid, answering the phone or door, accident prevention, stranger danger, key safety, emergency contacts and family codes. The class will be on Tuesday, Sept 22 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.and costs $45 a person. Beth Oleson, Community Health Educator, will be leading the class.
The second is a baby sitting workshop, geared towards ages 10-13. Kids can learn creative routines, basic first aid, diapering, discipline, contract, ethics, safety and accident prevention. The class will be on Thursday, Oct. 1 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and costs $48 a person.
