Democratic recount requested

Steven Medeiros has requested a recount of the Democratic race for the State Representative race from Tuesday, Sept. 1. 

Edward Pacheco won by 14 votes overall, and 22 votes in Dartmouth. Due to the close race, Medeiros stated he was not conceding, and formally requested a recount on Thursday, Sept. 3. 

The Ninth Bristol District will be announcing a recount day, and must give Pacheco and Medeiros three days notice before the recount. On the recount day, the ballots will be counted by hand. 

“If every legal ballot is hand-counted and my opponent is ahead, he will have my respect as our nominee. And if we pull ahead, I will proudly lead our party into November. That is how democracy works,” said Medeiros.
