Parks and Recreation summer programs announced
The Department of Parks and Recreation has announced a number of spring and summer programs for those of all ages.
Their first spring program is a hip-hop dance class for kids ages 5-13. The program runs from April 8 through June 3 from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. There will be no class on April 22. The eight week program costs $125 per person and takes place at 1383 Tucker Road.
The other spring program is Theatre Class: “Wicked 2” for kids ages 5 to 15. The program runs from April 8 through June 3 from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. There will be no class on April 22. The eight week program costs $125 per person and takes place at 1383 Tucker Road.
The Quinn Playground Center is a program for children 6-12 to be in a program that emphasizes open play, creativity and social interaction. The program runs from June 29 to August 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Before and after care is offered Monday to Friday, starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m for an extra $40. The program only has space for 55 kids and costs $125 a week.
There’s three pickleball courses; an adult course for ages 18 and over, a teens course for ages 13 to 17 and a kids course for ages nine to 12. The adult course runs 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., the teen course runs 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and the kids course runs from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. The courses are on Sundays between April 26 through May 31 at the Dartmouth Regional Park, located at 443 Old Fall River Road. The course is $135 per person.
There are tennis courses for all ages: adult courses for ages 18, junior courses for ages 10 to 17 and over a teens and kids course for ages seven to 14. The classes will take place at the Dartmouth High School tennis courts, located at 555 Bakerville Road.
The adult courses have two skill levels; beginner from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and advanced beginner from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sundays from June 28 through August 2. It costs $180 a player and is limited to 16 participants.
The juniors course runs Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and focuses on competitive skills. It runs Sundays June 28 through August 23 and costs $250 a player and is limited to 32 players.
The kids courses will have weekly themes, and run 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, June 29 through August 6. It costs $225 a player.
There are two theater classes available, both for ages five to 12 for $185 at 1383 Tucker Road. The first is “Zombies 4” and runs July 6 through July 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The other is “K-Pop Demon Hunters” and runs from July 20 to July 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
