Dartmouth, MA – Peter Joseph Ouellette, 87, of Dartmouth, MA passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital on Thursday afternoon, March 26, 2026.
He was born in Nashua, NH on February 19, 1939, to the late Peter H. and Marie C. (Mehegan) Ouellette of Brookline, NH. Being the oldest of three siblings, Peter became the helping hand for his mom after his dad’s passing at the age of seven. And he stayed close to his siblings throughout his life.
Peter graduated from Boston University in 1960 and later attended graduate school in Financial Accounting. He met Robert Parsons in the early 60’s, a resident of Dartmouth and an educator, who specialized in private school placement services. Dartmouth became Peter’s home for many years, where he made many of his friends and was involved in the community.
Peter was a generous volunteer, he was a Dartmouth Town Meeting member for many years. He also did taxes at Dartmouth Council on Aging for AARP, where many of his friends/neighbors got there taxes done and he continued doing their taxes at his home. He was involved with DNRT, Buzzards Bay Collision and Allen’s Pond Association. He loved Classical Music where he volunteer for The Concert at the Point in Westport and loved attending the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra. One of his many great loves in life was to get out in his old English Garden and get his hands dirty. Peter was a true gentleman in every way, he showed kindness to everyone he met.
Peter was a faithful catholic and attended St. Peter church in Westport, MA. He volunteered to make a half a dozen trips to Honduras with a group to help the poor people with the Olancho Project led by Claire Sullivan.
Peter’s friendship with William Sooter evolved in early 2000’s when Bob Parson became home bound with Parkinson’s disease. Over the years a strong brotherhood became their life.
Peter is survived by his sister, Marie C. Ouellette of Brookline, NH. He was predeceased by his brother Charles A. Ouellette, who died in 2024 and his nephew, Charles W. Sullivan, who died in 2014.
A graveside service will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Brookline, NH on a later date.
