State Rep. Christopher Markey to not seek reelection, will run for Bristol County District Attorney
After 15 years of serving in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, state Rep. Christopher Markey will not be seeking reelection this November. Instead, he will be running for Bristol County District Attorney, a position now open as incumbent Thomas Quinn III won't be seeking reelection.
Records from the Office of Campaign and Political Finance show that on Thursday, Jan. 22 Markey filed a Change of Purpose form. Submitting this form is a requirement when an individual is looking to change the office they're seeking or transition their campaign from state-level to municipal-level.
In a letter announcing his decision to not run for reelection, Markey wrote that he is "forever grateful that for 15 years you entrusted me to be your voice on Beacon Hill."
Markey also wrote that "in the coming weeks, I look forward to sharing with you what comes next for me."
