At trunk or treating, kids loved the trunks and the treats
Kids flocked to Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, Oct. 26 to trick-or-treat from parish members’ cars and paint pumpkins.
“We just wanted to give back to the families in the community,” said Reverend Scott Ciosek. “You find strength in community.”
The event brought in 52 kids within the first hour, dressed as creepy classics like Ghostface and cute costumes like Eevee the Pokemon. The fan favorite was 11-month Brooklynn Bento dressed as a mouse, while her father wheeled her around in a mouse-trap decorated wagon.
Kids enjoyed all aspects of the trunk or treat.
“My favorite part of trunk-or-treating is some people try to decorate their trunks like their houses,” said Madilyn Mather, age 8, who dressed as D.C.’s Poison Ivy.
Overall, most kids said their favorite part was the treats.
“Getting the candy,” said siblings Josia and Destiny Raposa, ages 5 and 8. Josia went as Disney’s Stitch, and his birthday is on Halloween. Destiny went as Rumi from KPop Demon Hunters.
There were trunks of all themes, from airplanes to donuts to Pokemon. Pop, Halloween and Disney songs played as kids ran around and collected candy.
“This is all a community thing, community outreach, and we love what we do,” said Faith Mbuthia, the town’s Youth and Family Coordinator.
