Watching the Duck Derby is a quacking good time
Event Date:
Quack up at thousands of rubber duckies floating down Allens Pond at Mass Audubon’s annual Duck Derby on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
The sponsor of winning duckies can win one of many prizes; a feast at Stone Barn, a gourmet picnic with Drumlin Farm animals, an osprey watching tour and picnic, a Mass Audubon family membership or a swag bag.
Last place gets the coveted “Slacker Quacker” award.
Sponsorship sign ups are open through Sept. 30 at 11:59 p.m. at massaudubon.org.
This derby helps hundreds of not-rubber piping plovers through the Mass Audubon Coastal Waterbird Program. Last year, the derby helped 379 pairs of plovers and worked at 203 sites across 141 miles of Massachusetts coastline.
While participants will not be able to view the race in person on race day, it will be streamed by Fun 107.
