Dartmouth Cultural Center granted 30-year lease
The Dartmouth Cultural Center will remain at the Old Southworth Library up to at least Dec. 1, 2055 after the Select Board approved of a 30-year lease at a meeting on Monday, Nov. 3.
"They held the lease for several years and continue to do an excellent job down there," said Town Administrator Cody Haddad.
The Cultural Center first moved into the Old Southworth Library in 2018 and had been under a yearly lease agreement. At Spring Town Meeting voters approved of extending the center's lease.
With this extension comes the opportunity for the Cultural Center to begin work on building renovations, which includes installing a ramp to make the building more accesible, make preservations to the historic building, update mechanical systems and more. A longer lease may also open up more grant opportunities that the center didn't qualify for under a one-year lease agreement.
